Dear Colleague:

Throughout the month of October, we have many exciting activities planned to help you celebrate Head Start Awareness Month!

To kick things off, today we are launching Books Building Bridges. This national initiative will enable your program to build new partnerships with your local police department through an ongoing reading program. The aim is to build new relationships and improve existing ones by inviting police to read with your children on a consistent basis. What better time to begin than now, to celebrate Head Start Awareness Month. Please take a minute to learn more and get started today!

We are also launching the 2017-2018 Dollar per Child campaign this month. Every Monday, we’ll have a Money, Money, Money Monday social media challenge - a fun way to spread awareness about Head Start and get your colleagues and friends involved. At the end of the month, we’ll have a special treat - a matching contribution campaign, with one of our celebrity supporters! But we need you to start now, so we can continue to ensure Head Start has the most powerful voice for children in Washington and your state capitals. Make your contribution today!

And last but not least, NHSA is excited to launch several new and impactful partnerships this month which will serve to further deepen ties between Head Start programs and their local community. They include Sesame Street, the Girl Scouts and Reading is Fundamental - check out our Head Start Awareness Month page and start planning your celebrations today!

Keeping the commitment,
