Upcoming 2020-2021 School Year
Welcome back Head Start and Early Head Start families! We have been working diligently to get our centers ready for your return to school! We have a tentative start date of August 24, 2020 for Head Start and August 5, 2020 for Early Head Start. Our open houses will be July 30, 2020 for Early Head Start with staggered appointments to ensure safe social distancing and the first week of August for our Head Start classrooms, with staggered appointment times as well to provide social distancing. Within the upcoming weeks, all families will be receiving a postcard in the mail with their day and time slot of their registration appointment with their child’s new teacher.
On our website, (www.centralkyheadstart.org), under 'Services', Parent, Family, Community Engagement tab, there will be an online link to print your child’s registration forms, please take advantage of this if possible and complete and bring to your child’s registration appointment along with any health work or immunizations certificates they have completed. If you cannot print and complete these forms in advance, paper copies will be available the day of, but again completing before hand will help with the registration process.
This appointment will also be your chance to express with our staff if you would like in person instruction, or virtual instruction. As of now we are looking at in person instruction being split classes of 10 children, with 10 children coming Monday and Tuesday with the other 2 days being virtual and 10 children coming Wednesday and Thursday with the other 2 days being virtual. This is tentative and could evolve as guidelines and restrictions change and update. Virtual learning 4 days a week is also an option, should you choose for your child. We will make both options fun, exciting and make sure your child is receiving superior learning at all times.
We also ask that adults attending the registration and open house wear a mask at all times within the center. It is not required for the children to wear a mask, but we do ask that proper hand hygiene be performed before and after each appointment.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s center, Family Advocate, or the Central Office at 270-692-2136. We hope everyone has had a wonderful, safe, and healthy summer and we look forward to seeing your children’s smiling faces as we start this upcoming school year!
